Stellantis declared on Monday that it plans to introduce the Fiat Topolino, an all-electric microcar, to the U.S. market.
Fiat CEO Olivier François stated that the Topolino, a compact city car designed for Europe’s tight and crowded streets, is heading to the U.S., a market dominated by large pickups and SUVs.
The company hasn’t disclosed when the vehicle will arrive, but François confirmed that the car will enter the market, noting that further information will be revealed next year.
The Topolino, which means ‘little mouse’ in Italian, is officially classified by Stellantis as an all-electric quadricycle rather than a conventional car. It can reach about 28 miles per hour and offers a driving range of up to 75 kilometers (just under 50 miles) per charge. The vehicle is manufactured in Morocco.

Fiat’s move follows just days after President Donald Trump praised Japan’s compact ‘Kei’ cars during a White House meeting with Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa, alongside U.S. lawmakers and auto industry leaders.
The Topolino would become Fiat’s second model available in the U.S., alongside the 500e. Like the Topolino, the 500e is a compact electric city car, but it is capable of freeway driving. Since its launch in the American market early last year, Fiat has sold roughly 2,000 units.
In Europe, the Topolino is priced at approximately €10,000 (around $11,500), and Fiat has provided a leasing option with monthly payments of about $45.
Microvehicles are generally not produced or sold in the U.S. because of regulatory obstacles and strict safety standards. Recently, Trump stated that he has instructed Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to allow microvehicles to be manufactured and driven in the country.

A Stellantis spokesperson told CNBC that Fiat’s announcement was not connected to the president’s remarks but was instead a response to growing consumer interest in microcars.
Tiny vehicles have historically struggled to gain traction in the American market, yet Stellantis’ move signals confidence in a rising niche for micro-mobility and urban commuting solutions.
The introduction of the Topolino will serve as a test of whether renewed attention under the Trump administration could expand opportunities for micro-mobility on U.S. roads.
