Nissan Motor Company revealed that its Chinese joint venture, Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile Company Limited, is preparing to launch the all-new Frontier Pro and Frontier Pro PHEV pickup trucks in China.
These will be Nissan’s first pickup trucks fully designed, developed, and produced in China for international markets. The Frontier Pro PHEV will also be the company’s first pickup to feature a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) drivetrain.
The Japanese automaker recently revealed the model under the Navara nameplate in Australia, where it is set to launch in the first quarter of 2026.
“The Frontier Pro is a model born in China and developed for the global market, representing a significant milestone in Nissan’s global strategy. We will begin exports in the first half of next year, delivering the excitement of Chinese technology and trend creation to the world,” said Steven Ma, chairman of Nissan’s China Management Committee.

The Frontier Pro PHEV combines a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an electric motor, delivering more than 300 kW of power and 800 Nm of torque, offering strong performance and efficiency.
In EV mode, the vehicle achieves a maximum driving range of 135km under NEDC certification, and it also offers a 6kW smart external power supply to support outdoor equipment.
Meanwhile, the conventional version is powered by Nissan’s third-generation M9T diesel engine, producing 500Nm of torque and paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission.

The vehicle’s exterior panels are made from fully double-sided galvanized steel, while the underbody is specially coated for protection against gravel.
On the technology front, the Frontier Pro also incorporates 25 driver-assistance systems aimed at enhancing accident prevention and passenger safety.
In addition, the exterior styling showcases a V-motion grille, a laser-etched emblem, and modern LED headlights.
In China, the Frontier Pro is priced between 169,900 and 199,900 RMB, while the PHEV variant ranges from 189,900 to 249,900 RMB.
