Telematics specialist Geotab has introduced its latest advancement in connected vehicle technology, the GO Focus Plus AI dash cam and video intelligence platform, to support fleet managers and drivers in minimizing risky driving behaviors and enhancing overall safety through smarter solutions.
The dual-facing dash cam provides real-time, in-cab assistance by delivering immediate voice alerts when it detects behaviors like tailgating, mobile phone use, or signs of driver fatigue. During a recent extensive trial, this voice coaching feature led to a 90% reduction in tailgating and a 95% drop in phone use.
The platform also enables fleets to detect recurring patterns and focus on the most critical risks, removing the need to manually review hours of video. Each alert is accompanied by relevant footage and contextual information, transforming every event into a chance for driver coaching.
The launch comes in the wake of a rise in road fatalities across Australia. According to the Australian Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics, 1,329 road deaths were recorded between June 2024 and June 2025, marking a 3.3% increase from the previous year.
