Ola Electric on Friday unveiled its new electric motorcycle, Diamondhead, with an expected price of ₹5 lakh, marking its entry into the global motorcycle market. Designed for commuting, touring, and performance riding, deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2027.
As part of its localization strategy, Ola announced the integration of its indigenously developed 4680 battery cell into the S1 Pro Plus electric scooter and the Roadster X Plus motorcycle. The company also showcased a motor without rare earth metals at its Gigafactory. Deliveries of these updated models will start after Navaratri.
Founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said Diamondhead aims to take biking to the next level, not just in India, but across the world. The indigenous battery follows the launch of the company’s 110-acre Ola Gigafactory, with an initial 5 GWh capacity.

Ola also refreshed its scooter lineup, introducing the S1 Pro Sport at ₹1,49,999 (introductory, ex-showroom), with deliveries from January 2026. The S1 Pro Sport delivers 16 kW of peak power, 71 Nm of torque, 0–40 km/h in 2 seconds, and a top speed of 152 km/h. To boost sales, the S1 Pro Plus price has been cut from ₹1,99,999 to ₹1,69,999, and the Roadster X Plus from ₹2,24,000 to ₹1,89,999.
The launches come amid intensifying competition. Bajaj recently launched the Chetak 3001 at ₹99,990, Hero MotoCorp introduced the Vida VX2, TVS updated its iQube ST with a larger battery and extended range, Ather added new features to its 450 series, Ultraviolette rolled out the Tesseract scooter, and Royal Enfield is preparing its first electric motorcycle.

From January to July 2025, Ola registered 1,33,134 units, down 50.8% from 2,70,346 units in 2024, according to Vahan data. The decline comes amid market share losses, thousands of consumer complaints over alleged product faults prompting CCPA intervention, warranty provisions, and reported glitches in vehicle registration after a vendor partnership ended during a system overhaul.
Ola plans to scale its hypercharger network to 10,000 chargers by 2026, covering major urban and intercity routes. The company also unveiled its MoveOS 6 software, featuring adaptive cruise control, blind spot alerts, a voice assistant, and multiple custom modes. Its in-house 4680 ‘Bharat’ cells will be used across two- and three-wheelers, energy storage systems, and drones.
