Chinese automaker Geely Auto Group is preparing to bring its Auto brand to the UK with the debut of the EX5, an all-electric SUV.
Geely has long marketed electric vehicles in the UK and globally through its affiliated brands like Volvo Cars, Polestar, and Lotus. However, the debut of the EX5 marks the first time a model will be sold directly under the Geely name in the UK. To support this entry, the company is establishing a dedicated distributor, Geely Auto UK, which will unify local dealerships, suppliers, and strategic partners under a single operational framework.
Geely revealed that the EX5 battery-powered SUV will be its first model available in the UK, noting that the vehicle is currently undergoing extensive refinement to align with the expectations of British consumers. The automaker stated that the EX5 “will be the first in a diverse range of high-quality, accessible vehicles tailored for the UK.”

The EX5 is a mid-size electric SUV built on Geely’s advanced GEA platform (Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture). It comes with two battery options—49.5 kWh and 60.2 kWh, with the larger pack offering a WLTP range of up to 264 miles.
Geely has indicated that the EX5 is primarily intended for fleet purchasers, with initial deliveries to UK customers expected in the fourth quarter of this year. The company is still assessing whether the vehicle should be tailored to meet the specific preferences and requirements of the British market. As reported by Autocar, Geely is collaborating with engineers from its premium brand Lotus to support this effort.
The all-electric Geely EX5 is already available in several international markets, including China, Australia, and Thailand.
The rollout is part of Geely’s broader strategy to accelerate global expansion by entering new markets and adding over 300 dealerships and service centers outside China by the end of 2025.
