Ford Motor recalls over 148,000 trucks and SUVs, citing concerns about brake fluid leaks and software issues as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
On Thursday, the federal agency declared that Ford is recalling 123,611 vehicles, including the 2017–18 Ford F-150 series, Ford Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator models, due to a fluid leak impacting braking performance.
The auto safety regulator emphasized that dealers are required to replace affected parts, such as the master cylinder or brake booster, at no cost to the vehicle owners.

The carmaker is also recalling 24,655 2025 Explorer models due to a potential issue with the powertrain control module, which could reset during operation. The defect might harm the vehicle’s parking system or result in an engine stall, according to the agency. Similar to other recalls, dealers will address the software problem at no cost.
The company shared that owners will receive notifications by mail instructing them to visit a Ford or Lincoln dealership to replace the brake master cylinder. Additionally, if a leak is detected in the brake master cylinder, the brake booster will also be replaced.
Notification letters to owners are scheduled to be sent out on April 28, with Ford designating this recall as number 25S37.

The recall announcement coincides with Ford’s indication that it might raise the prices of its models in the U.S. as the company navigates the impact of auto tariffs imposed by the Trump administration.
The Rating agency S&P recently released a report indicating that Ford faces a significant risk of receiving a negative rating due to tariffs. Currently, the company holds a BBB rating.
