Infineon Technologies has further reinforced its global leadership in the automotive chip industry, securing a 13.5% share of the global market in 2024, according to the latest TechInsights analysis. A key driver of this success is Infineon’s dominant position in the microcontroller segment, where it now holds a 32.0% market share—extending its lead over its closest competitor by 2.7% points.
The company achieved notable gains across key regions. In Europe, Infineon climbed to the top spot with a 14.1% share, up from second place in 2023. It also rose to second place in North America with a 10.4% share, advancing from third. In China and South Korea, Infineon maintained its leadership positions with 13.9% and 17.7% shares, respectively. In Japan, the company continued to rank second with a 13.2% share.

The global automotive semiconductor market was valued at $68.4 billion in 2024, marking a 1.2% decline from the previous year. Despite this, Infineon sustained its growth, particularly in microcontrollers, even as the overall microcontroller segment saw an 8.2% contraction.
“We are proud to be the global leader in automotive semiconductors for the fifth consecutive year, with success in every region,” said Peter Schaefer, Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer for Automotive at Infineon. “This achievement reflects our strong product portfolio, exceptional customer support, and our commitment to meeting the specific needs of our customers.”
Infineon’s technologies play a critical role in the digital transformation and decarbonization of vehicles. The company’s semiconductors support a wide range of automotive applications, including driver assistance and safety systems, powertrain and battery management, as well as comfort and infotainment.

A strategic focus for Infineon is the development of advanced electrical and electronic (E/E) architectures, shifting toward centralized zonal designs to enable software-defined vehicles. These architectures demand cutting-edge capabilities in connectivity, cybersecurity, smart power distribution, and real-time processing.
“Infineon continues to lead, with microcontrollers being a major contributor to this success,” noted Asif Anwar, Executive Director of Automotive End Market Research at TechInsights. “Infineon has excelled in microcontrollers used in advanced driver assistance systems and other applications.”
