SK hynix has become the first memory chipmaker to receive a globally recognized information security certification for the automotive industry. The South Korean semiconductor giant announced on Thursday that all its domestic facilities in Icheon, Bundang, and Cheongju have obtained the Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange (TISAX) certification.
TISAX is an internationally accepted security standard managed by the ENX Association, which includes major European automakers, suppliers, and industry stakeholders. The certification ensures a standardized approach to information security across the automotive supply chain and is a key requirement for global automakers assessing their partners’ security capabilities.
With this milestone, SK hynix aims to expand its role in the development of high-performance memory solutions for automotive applications, a market experiencing rapid growth driven by the increasing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), autonomous driving, and connected car technology.
Automotive semiconductors play a crucial role in safety systems, including advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), braking mechanisms, and engine control. Given their direct impact on vehicle safety, these chips require significantly higher reliability than general semiconductors.

SK hynix Vice President Kim Jong-hwan emphasized the significance of the certification, stating, “With this achievement, we will strengthen cooperation with global automakers and key automotive parts manufacturers. We will also lead the next-generation automotive memory market by building trust with customers through a robust security framework.”
The certification reinforces SK hynix’s commitment to meeting the evolving security and reliability standards required in the automotive semiconductor sector.
