AAWireless, the pioneering and widely acclaimed Android Auto wireless adapter, has officially been discontinued. This innovative product, which launched via crowdfunding platforms, revolutionised the driving experience by eliminating the need for wired connections, becoming a staple for modern drivers worldwide.
AAWireless transformed how drivers interacted with their vehicles, introducing a seamless wireless Android Auto experience. It quickly became a favourite, creating an entire product category that many consider indispensable today. The adapter worked by connecting to a car’s Android Auto USB port and pairing with smartphones via Bluetooth. It forwarded wireless signals to vehicles using a short USB cable, offering the convenience of a no-cord experience each time the engine was started.
After weeks of speculation, a company representative confirmed that production of the original AAWireless model has ceased. While the device has been unavailable on Amazon for some time and removed from the parent company’s website, no formal announcement had been made until now. Consumers may still find remaining stock through third-party retailers or pre-owned units, but the first-generation AAWireless is no longer being manufactured.
The company has shifted its focus to the second-generation model, AAWireless TWO, which boasts a refined design and features such as a dedicated physical button for switching between devices. This new version maintains the core functionality of converting wired Android Auto setups into wireless systems. However, the future of support for the original model remains uncertain, with software updates likely to be phased out as attention turns to newer versions.
Despite this, the first-generation AAWireless continues to function reliably without further updates, providing a stable and dependable experience for existing users. For those satisfied with its performance, upgrading to the second generation may not be necessary.
In an exciting development, the company plans to release a new AAWireless adapter in the first quarter of 2025, designed to support both Android Auto and CarPlay. While details are limited, this model is expected to enhance compatibility with Apple devices, filling a gap left by AAWireless TWO, which lacks CarPlay functionality. Currently, the original AAWireless offers CarPlay support in beta, providing a temporary solution for iPhone users.
