Škoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL) has officially commenced production of its new sub-4-meter SUV, the Kylaq, at its advanced manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune. The announcement, made via an official release, highlights the brand’s commitment to innovation, localisation, and customer-focused offerings tailored to the Indian market.
The Kylaq is developed on the highly adaptable MQB-A0-IN platform, known for its robust design and alignment with the highest localisation standards. The vehicle embodies Škoda’s focus on four key pillars: comfort, safety, quality, and global design.
The company has also expanded its local supplier base by 10%, a move aimed at reducing ownership costs and strengthening its local ecosystem.
Piyush Arora, Managing Director and CEO of Škoda Auto Volkswagen India, expressed enthusiasm about the production milestone, stating:
“We’re thrilled to begin production of Škoda Auto India’s first sub-4-meter SUV. Congratulations to the entire team on the successful start of production.”
He further added, “Kylaq is engineered and developed in India to cater to the evolving requirements of Indian customers. By manufacturing Kylaq locally, we proudly support the Make-in-India initiative, maintaining the Group’s DNA of delivering safety, comfort, and driving dynamics. It was heartening to see the positive reception it received at the World Premiere last month, and I am confident that Škoda Kylaq will truly resonate with Indian car buyers.”
The Kylaq has already gained significant traction in the market, securing over 10,000 bookings within just 10 days of opening reservations. This strong response underscores its potential to make a lasting impact in India’s competitive SUV segment.
With this launch, Škoda Auto Volkswagen continues to reinforce its commitment to the Indian market through localisation, innovation, and customer-centric strategies, aligning with the government’s ‘Make-in-India’ initiative. The Kylaq is poised to set new benchmarks in the sub-4-meter SUV category while catering to the evolving needs of Indian consumers.
