JAC Motors continues to strengthen its global presence, achieving a significant milestone in September 2024 by exporting 7,054 bakkies to over 130 markets. This marked a 13.7% year-on-year increase and contributed to the company’s total of 47,600 units exported in the first three quarters of 2024. JAC Motors now accounts for over 20% of all Chinese bakkie exports, securing its position as the leading Chinese automotive brand in the segment.
A company spokesperson highlighted that the consistent growth of their bakkie range overseas is paving the way for further global expansion and solidifying JAC Motors’ reputation in the international automotive industry.
At the IAA Transportation 2024 in Hannover, JAC Motors showcased its groundbreaking T9 EV double-cab, China’s first battery-electric 4WD bakkie. The launch demonstrated China’s growing influence in the automotive sector and JAC’s ambition to lead innovation globally. With 15 years of expertise in bakkie production, the company has reached an annual production capacity of 100,000 units, underlining its commitment to global markets.
JAC Motors has seen steady growth in South Africa, with the T9 bakkie driving record sales in October 2024, reaching 193 units sold. The company is expanding its presence in Southern Africa, partnering with groups like Bidvest McCarthy and the Halfway Group to increase its dealership network. With over 70 dealer locations across the region, JAC Motors is poised for continued success as it celebrates its eighth year in the South African market.
