On October 25, GAC made a landmark entry into Hong Kong’s automotive market with the launch of its hybrid flagship MPV, the E9. The unveiling took place at Harbour City’s Ocean Terminal, set against the backdrop of Hong Kong’s iconic skyline, underscoring GAC’s strategic positioning of the E9 as a leader in the premium hybrid sector. Automotive experts, influencers, and key media personalities gathered to witness this major milestone in Hong Kong’s automotive landscape.
GAC’s President, Wei Haigang, highlighted Hong Kong’s importance as both a market and a strategic base for GAC’s expansion within the Asia-Pacific region. “Hong Kong is not only a vital market for us but also a strategic launchpad for our growth in the Asia-Pacific region,” he stated. “We are here to bring high-quality, eco-friendly vehicles that resonate with local consumer demands and lifestyles.”
The E9 caters to Hong Kong’s MPV-friendly market, where over 55% of vehicle sales in 2023 were attributed to MPVs. With many households relying on larger vehicles to accommodate family members and domestic staff, the E9 provides a perfect blend of comfort, space, and sustainability. Inside, luxury features such as semi-aniline leather seats, suede trims, and ultra-long sliding rails for customizable seating elevate the passenger experience.
In terms of performance, the E9 boasts a 2.0T intelligent electric hybrid system, setting a new standard in its class. It accelerates from 60 to 100 km/h in a swift 3.83 seconds, while its hybrid mode achieves an impressive range of up to 1,032 kilometers on a full charge and tank, easing concerns over long-distance driving.
Reflecting GAC’s commitment to Hong Kong, the company is expanding its service infrastructure to ensure efficient parts supply and customer support, with eight showrooms in areas such as Kowloon Bay, Wan Chai, Sha Tin, Hung Hom, and North Point. The newly launched E9 is also displayed at the North Point showroom, where GAC is offering an ‘Early Bird’ promotion, allowing customers to reserve one of the first 100 units.
