Renault and SUEZ are expanding their partnership on recycling waste metal and recovering end-of-life vehicles, with new strategic agreements aimed at supporting the automotive sector’s ecological transition. Together, they aim to advance The Future Is NEUTRAL initiative, positioning it as a leader in the automotive circular economy.
Renault Group CEO Luca de Meo said SUEZ’s investment in The Future Is NEUTRAL confirms the value of their model. Our joint investment will allow us to accelerate in order to provide an open circular economy platform that meets the needs of all players in the automotive industry, in growing activities. We are doing this by strengthening existing operations and creating new closed-loop recycling solutions, from car to car” he stated.
SUEZ CEO Sabrina Soussan emphasized the importance of supporting the automotive industry’s ecological transition and securing secondary raw materials. Our expertise in waste recycling and recovery will enable us to support the sector’s transformation as it transitions towards more circularity and to reduce its reliance on virgin raw materials” she noted.
The partnership aims to boost the car-to-car circular economy by combining Renault’s expertise in the automotive value chain and SUEZ’s recycling capabilities. Renault will contribute its capabilities at the Refactory in Flins, France, Europe’s first circular economy hub for mobility, while SUEZ will provide expertise in waste management and production of recycled materials.
Both companies will focus on design for recycling, reverse logistics, vehicle waste management, and closed-loop car-to-car recycling to reduce the industry’s impact on natural resources and provide recycled materials and parts.
The Future Is NEUTRAL, launched by Renault, offers circular economy solutions for the automotive sector, supporting every stage of a vehicle’s life cycle—from recycled materials in production to managing end-of-life vehicles. CEO Jean-Philippe Bahuaud called SUEZ’s investment a key milestone that will help expand their solutions, with plans to integrate closed-loop battery recycling in collaboration with Europe’s automotive industry.
