General Motors (GM) has significantly enhanced its electric vehicle (EV) charging network, unlocking access to more than 17,800 Tesla Superchargers for its customers. The move, enabled by GM-approved NACS DC adapters, offers a faster and more convenient charging experience for today’s EV drivers, along with future adopters of GM electric vehicles.
This integration with Tesla’s vast Supercharger Network boosts GM’s public charging availability to over 231,800 Level 2 and DC fast chargers across North America. GM continues expanding charging infrastructure, with a focus on high-traffic routes and communities. U.S. customers will be the first to receive GM-approved NACS DC adapters, while Canadian EV owners will gain access later this year.
Wade Sheffer, GM Energy’s Vice President, emphasized GM’s commitment to an all-electric future, stating, “Enabling access to even more publicly available fast chargers represents yet another way GM is focused on further improving the customer experience and making the transition to electric more seamless.”
Priced at $225, the GM-approved NACS DC adapter can be purchased directly through GM’s vehicle brand apps. These apps not only facilitate adapter purchases but also provide real-time access to Tesla Superchargers, enabling users to check station availability, start charging, and handle payments seamlessly.
To ensure broad availability, GM is working with multiple suppliers to manufacture these adapters, all meeting the rigorous standards of the North American Charging Standard (NACS). This expanded access aligns with GM’s broader goal of simplifying the EV experience, making charging more accessible and propelling the electric future forward.
