The Cupra Tavascan represents a unique blend of design and performance, elevating the driving experience to new emotional heights. Enhancing this experience further, CUPRA’s sound team embarked on a mission to create an audio system that stands out, resulting in a partnership with premium audio brand Sennheiser. Together, they developed an immersive sound system tailored to the Tavascan, breaking conventional audio norms.
“Cupra and Sennheiser are a perfect match,” states José Luis Álvarez, responsible for Sound Systems Projects at CUPRA. “Sennheiser is known for its high-quality audio, innovation and excellence in sound engineering, and we’re proud to have collaborated with them to develop this new audio system.”
For Sennheiser, this marks one of their first partnerships with a major car brand. Sofia Checa, Immersive Audio Engineer at Sennheiser, highlights the synergy: “Both Cupra and Sennheiser are disruptors in our fields – we’re not afraid of doing things differently.”
The collaboration resulted in an audio system that envelops both driver and passengers in an immersive, customizable experience. “Its operation is based on the real-time analysis of different musical components, such as instruments, voices or even room information,” explains Sofia. “From there, it redistributes them throughout the car, while still remaining true to the original artistic intentions, but enhancing its emotion.”
Users can customize their sound experience on a scale from 0 to 3, with options to adjust the sound manually or automatically, focusing on different occupants. Modes such as Music, Speech, and Club ensure the optimal audio experience for any situation.
Creating the ideal sound formula involved integrating 12 hi-fi speakers and developing a proprietary algorithm. Each car model, with its unique shape and cabin layout, required a tailored solution.
“The sound we hear inside the Cupra Tavascan, was specifically designed for this model,” says Sofia. “We’ve certainly achieved a unique audio experience unlike anything ever heard before; it’s a major step forward in every way,” adds José Luis.
