Valeo, a global automotive leader, and Seeing Machines, a pioneer in advanced computer vision technology, have announced an alliance to dominate the driver and occupant monitoring systems (OMS) market. This partnership aims to revolutionize vehicle safety and comfort through cutting-edge interior sensing solutions.
Valeo is transferring its driver monitoring perception software activity, acquired from the German start-up Asaphus, to Seeing Machines. This transition positions Seeing Machines at the forefront of perception software for interior monitoring, utilizing their expertise in AI-powered operator monitoring systems.
Valeo will harness Seeing Machines’ advanced interior monitoring perception software, embedding it into their hardware and software architecture. This integration empowers Valeo to offer a premier full-system for interior sensing, a sector experiencing rapid expansion due to forthcoming regulatory mandates.
This collaboration amplifies the market presence of both companies. Seeing Machines gains from Valeo’s extensive European infrastructure, including a Berlin-based team, enhancing their ability to serve the European market with state-of-the-art monitoring solutions and address the increasing demands of their customer base.
The transfer of Asaphus’ capabilities infuses Seeing Machines with unique intellectual property, data, and a specialized development team renowned for their Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence expertise. These assets will accelerate Seeing Machines’ feature roadmap and bolster their leadership in OMS technology.
Marc Vrecko, CEO of Valeo’s Brain Division, remarked, “We are delighted with this collaboration with Seeing Machines. It is another demonstration of Valeo’s ability to build the ground for successful cooperation with core technology companies. These last 5 years, with Asaphus, we have been able to grow the company, develop their AI perception technologies and build a solid position in interior monitoring systems.”
“Combining our teams with Seeing Machines, we will benefit from the best in class perception software to integrate into our hardware and software architecture for driver and occupant monitoring systems. Together, we will be able to provide more competitive solutions and strengthen our market position,” he added.
Paul McGlone, CEO of Seeing Machines, stated, “With our shared culture of innovation, this collaboration will enable our team to continue to lead the interior sensing market as we complement our highly specialised skills and work with Valeo, a world leading automotive technology company, to deliver driver and occupant monitoring solutions to more automotive customers, globally.”
He further staed, “As regulations making driver monitoring systems mandatory across the EU come into effect this month, the market for enhanced safety and convenience solutions is expanding daily. Thanks to our proven, class-leading technology, we are very well placed to solidify our industry leadership position, supporting our customers in getting their programs successfully to production.”
Valeo and Seeing Machines commit to offering the automotive industry groundbreaking, integrated interior sensing solutions. This partnership promises to enhance vehicle safety and occupant comfort, meeting the growing, regulation-driven demand for advanced OMS technology.
