Dubai is set to revolutionize its transportation landscape with the introduction of air taxis by the end of 2025. US-based aviation company Joby has announced that these taxis will significantly reduce travel times across the city, turning a typical 45-minute car ride from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah into a swift 10 to 12-minute flight.
Priced at Dh350 per passenger, the service aims to offer residents a quick, scenic, and efficient alternative to conventional road travel, providing a solution to bypass traffic jams. Each air taxi can accommodate four passengers and a pilot, and is designed with ample baggage space, ensuring convenience and comfort.
Dubai Air Taxis: Key Highlights
- Cost: Dh350 per passenger
- Launch: Expected by the end of 2025
- Time Reduction: Cuts travel time by nearly 70%
- Capacity: 4 passengers + pilot
- Booking: Via app or Uber
- Charging: 10 minutes for full charge
- Safety: 12 motors, 4 batteries
- Vertiports: Initially 4 in key hubs

The aircraft, boasting quiet operation at just 45 decibels, will fly at altitudes ranging from 100 to 1,000 meters depending on the journey’s length. This service promises not only a fast commute but also breathtaking views of Dubai from above.
Safety and training are top priorities, with pilots required to undergo a detailed six to eight-week training program tailored to these sophisticated aircraft. Joby also plans to integrate this service with an app and Uber, allowing easy booking options for passengers.
In terms of infrastructure, Dubai plans to construct four vertiports by 2025 at key locations including Dubai Airport and Palm Jumeirah, with potential future expansions on top of high-rise buildings.

The air taxis are equipped with advanced technology for vertical takeoff and smooth acceleration, similar to helicopters and planes. They can reach speeds up to 320kmph and cover around 160km on a single charge, featuring quick recharging capabilities between trips.
This ambitious project not only positions Dubai as a pioneer in urban air mobility but also aligns with its broader vision of reducing traffic congestion and enhancing transportation efficiency in the city.
