VinFast Auto has declared its upcoming entry into the Philippine electric vehicle (EV) market by late May 2024, reinforcing its commitment to lead in Southeast Asia and advance the global shift towards transportation electrification.
With operational footprints across the U.S., Canada, Europe, Indonesia, India, and Thailand, VinFast identifies the Philippines as a critical component of its Southeast Asian strategy. This market entry coincides with increasing Philippine governmental support for electric vehicle initiatives, underscoring VinFast’s dedication to fostering sustainable transportation solutions.
The company is set to introduce Filipino consumers to a broad spectrum of electric vehicles, motorcycles, and bikes, characterized by youthful, modern designs and innovative technology. These offerings aim to deliver a diversified and high-quality electrified experience.
VinFast’s approach includes implementing comprehensive after-sales services, appealing sales policies, and a robust nationwide dealership network. These measures are designed to ease the transition from gasoline-powered to electric vehicles, promoting widespread adoption of EV technology throughout the nation.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc, CEO of VinFast Philippines, expressed enthusiasm about the brand’s launch, stating, “The brand launch in the Philippines marks another significant milestone for VinFast in its journey to grow its presence in the global electric vehicle market. We are proud to support the Philippines in its electric mobility revolution and believe that by offering modern, powerful, and smart vehicles alongside exceptional customer service, VinFast will steadily achieve its expansion goals in this market.”
The inaugural brand launch event is scheduled in Manila, with a media day on May 31 and public viewing on June 1-2. The showcase will feature VinFast’s extensive range of electric vehicles, including the VF e34, VF 5, VF 7, and VF 9 models, alongside six electric motorcycle variants and the VF DrgnFly electric bike. Event attendees will have the chance to engage directly with these models and register for test drives.
This strategic expansion follows a discussion in January 2024 between Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. and Vingroup Chairman and VinFast Founder, Managing Director, and CEO Pham Nhat Vuong, focusing on potential investment cooperation. The launch marks a significant step for VinFast in expanding its influence in Southeast Asia and contributes to the Philippines’ path toward embracing innovative and sustainable mobility solutions.
