Hyundai Motor Group cements its supremacy within the global electric vehicle (EV) marketplace, propelled by an ambitious electrification strategy and a cascade of distinguished accolades. Standing at the vanguard of automotive innovation, the Group’s vehicles have consistently secured international commendation, highlighted by their sweeping victories at the 2024 World Car Awards.
The 2024 World Car Awards ceremony spotlighted Hyundai Motor Group’s exceptional contributions to the automotive realm. The Kia EV9, claiming dual victories, secured the illustrious titles of 2024 World Car of the Year and 2024 World Electric Vehicle. Parallel to this triumph, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N attained the 2024 World Performance Car title, affirming the Group’s adeptness at merging performance with electric propulsion.
This victory marks the third successive year Hyundai Motor Group has clinched the World Car of the Year title, a testament to its persistent excellence and ingenuity. Beginning with the IONIQ 5 in 2022, succeeded by the IONIQ 6 in 2023, and now the Kia EV9 in 2024—all rooted in the groundbreaking Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) introduced in 2020—this streak of triumphs underscores the Group’s predominant stance within the global automotive sector.
Hyundai Motor Group’s laurels extend beyond these recent commendations. Since 2020, inclusive of the Kia Telluride’s victory, the Group has accumulated four World Car of the Year titles, the highest by any automotive group over the past decade. Furthermore, across the last ten years, Hyundai Motor Group has celebrated 66 wins across six distinct Car of the Year awards spanning North America and Europe. This tally includes accolades for 28 Hyundai Motor models and 27 Kia models globally, with Genesis also securing multiple recognitions for its EV models, including the GV60, GV70 EV, and G80 EV.
The Group’s E-GMP platform plays a pivotal role in its ascendancy. Renowned for its modularity and standardization, E-GMP underpins such vehicles as the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and 6, Kia EV6 and EV9, and Genesis GV60. These EVs prioritize safety and pioneering design while supporting multi-rapid charging and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, enhancing the electric driving encounter.
Anticipating the future, Hyundai Motor Group is relentless in its innovation drive. The Group plans to augment its E-GMP-based EV lineup, underscoring its steadfast dedication to EV innovation. This ambition was underscored through the revelation of concept vehicles such as the Hyundai SEVEN at 2021 AutoMobility LA, the Kia Concept EV3 and EV4 at Kia EV Day in October 2023, and the Genesis Neolun Concept at Genesis House New York this year. These concepts foretell an exhilarating future for the Group’s next-generation EVs, promising a fusion of avant-garde technology, sustainable mobility, and enthralling design.
