Stellantis unveils an unparalleled financial strategy, earmarking €5.6 billion for South America’s automotive development from 2025 to 2030. This monumental allocation not only sets a new benchmark for the industry but also signals a transformative era for automotive innovation and sustainability across Brazil and the wider region.
Central to this strategic infusion are plans to introduce over 40 novel products, inclusive of a pioneering battery electric vehicle (BEV) and the development of cutting-edge Bio-Hybrid technologies. Such initiatives underscore Stellantis’ leadership in championing decarbonization throughout the automotive supply chain and exploring strategic ventures to bolster the regional automotive landscape.
Carlos Tavares, Stellantis CEO, articulates the company’s unwavering commitment to South America, “This announcement solidifies our trust and commitment in the future of the South American automotive industry and is a response to the favourable business environment here.” He highlights South America’s pivotal role in Stellantis’ ‘third engine’ growth strategy, dedicated to propelling cleaner, safer, and more accessible mobility solutions throughout the region.
Foremost among these advancements are innovative Bio-Hybrid technologies, synergizing electrification with hybrid engines utilizing bio-fuels like ethanol. Stellantis’ Betim, Brazil, facility emerges as the epicenter for global Bio-Hybrid technology expertise. This initiative heralds the introduction of Bio-Hybrid, Bio-Hybrid electrified dual-clutch transmissions (eDCT), Bio-Hybrid Plug-In, and BEV technologies, reinforcing Stellantis’ legacy as a bio-fuel engine technology trailblazer, notably with Fiat’s 100% ethanol engines.
This expansive investment transcends technological innovation, reinforcing Stellantis’ supremacy in key South American markets. Dominating in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile, Stellantis boasts significant market shares, with top-selling models like the Fiat Strada. Strategic acquisitions in Argentina and a robust presence in auto parts distribution exemplify Stellantis’ ambition to broaden its influence across automotive and aftermarket sectors in South America.
