Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the 2027 GLB-Class, the second model in its new compact lineup, following the redesigned 2026 CLA-Class.
Mercedes hasn’t departed much from the blueprint of the first GLB, introduced in 2020. The updated SUV retains its boxy styling and offers an optional third row, which boosts seating to seven (five seats are standard). Its slightly larger dimensions provide extra space for both passengers and cargo, making it well-suited for families.
Similar to the CLA, the upcoming GLB will initially be available solely with electrified powertrains. At launch, buyers can choose between the battery-powered GLB 250+ with EQ Technology and the GLB 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology, while a hybrid model is set to join the lineup later.
A high-performance successor to AMG’s discontinued GLB 35 is also expected, though Mercedes has not shared details yet.

The rear-wheel-drive GLB250+ with EQ Technology delivers 268 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque, enabling the car to reach 60 mph in 7.3 seconds. For those seeking more strength and traction, the GLB350 comes with dual-motor all-wheel drive, producing 349 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, cutting the sprint to 60 mph down to 5.4 seconds. Both versions are equipped with a two-speed transmission on the rear axle.
Powering both the GLB250+ and GLB350 is the same 85-kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery. The rear-drive 250+ offers the longest range, with WLTP estimates between 337 and 392 miles. The GLB350 prioritizes performance, slightly reducing range to between 324 and 382 miles. Charging capabilities include up to 9.6 kilowatts on AC and as much as 320 kilowatts on DC fast-charging.
The GLB builds on the previous generation but distinguishes itself with a subtly rounded front fascia. Its body has grown 3.9 inches in length and 1.1 inches in width, while standing 0.9 inches shorter than its predecessor.

Inside, the cabin carries forward familiar themes yet embraces Mercedes’ move toward screen-heavy dashboards, highlighted by the available MBUX Superscreen. This expansive display setup merges a 10.25-inch driver screen, a 14-inch central touchscreen, and a 14-inch passenger display under a single pane of glass. It runs the newest version of the MBUX infotainment system, complete with voice assistance, ChatGPT integration, and Microsoft Bing Search.
Another standout feature is a panoramic glass roof, which can be upgraded with the SKY CONTROL option that allows it to shift from transparent to opaque in milliseconds.
Mercedes has yet to confirm the exact launch date for the new GLB, but the automaker indicates it will debut as a 2027 model, with showroom availability expected in the latter half of next year.
